Q.Why railway reservation charting is some times done very late (as close as 1 hour from departure)?
Asked by:Pooja Sharma on 22/12/2013
Ans#1 The entire reservation charting system is flawed. At the last 2/3/4 hours, a wait listed passenger cannot make any alternative travel plan after transporting all luggage etc., to station. Instead, if the charting is either done well in advance and notified, or vacant seats are released daily in lots in seven days prior to departure, it will be helpful to all. All vacant seats thereafter may be clearly notified periodically and also sold by railways to those wait listed passengers who prefer to still take a chance, after the charting is done, even may be at a premium. This will effectively avoid over-crowding in reserved coaches.

Ans#2 A ticket booked (PNR No.4502821639) on 3rd November 2013 for journey on 24th December 2013 was in waiting at WL3, WL4, WL5 and WL6 on 23rd December 2013. Less than two hours (at 5:30 PM) ahead of train departure, the charting is done and wait list number in this particular case did not change. If there were no seats available then why this information is not made public. The general public is made to suffer, as in this case passengers were forced to return back from railway station, where as extra time was allowed to (extra 2 hours in violation of 4 hours rule) to so called VIPs to make up there mind to either travel and occupy the seats in Indian Rail. It appears that to travel in India by trains one need to be either a VIP/ NRI or should have a deep pocket and know a middle man. When, the quota system will stop hitting the general public?

Q.What is the cross country race?
Asked by:Pooja Sharma on 04/11/2013
Ans#1 Cross country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain. The course, typically 4–12 kilometers long, may include surfaces of grass and earth, pass through woodlands and open country, and include hills, flat ground and sometimes gravel road. It is both an individual and a team sport; runners are judged based on individual times and a points-scoring method for teams. Both men and women of all ages compete in cross country, which usually takes place during autumn and winter, and can include weather conditions of rain, sleet, snow or hail, and a wide range of temperatures.

Q.Which is the best place to visit in Winters?
Asked by:Reena Gaur on 10/09/2013
Ans#1 Srinagar (Kashmir) is worth considering to visit provided you are little bit adventurous. The other places of interest is Manali (HP). Plan well to cope up with uncertainties arising mainly due to flight cancellation, land slide, snowfall and sever cold conditions.
